Colorants Do More Than Change Appearance

Fillers Enhance Performance and Value 

Fillers are added to plastic formulations for a variety of reasons beyond reducing material costs. When properly selected, they can improve mechanical properties, dimensional stability, and overall product performance. 

Common fillers include calcium carbonate, talc, glass fibers, and mineral-based materials. 

Depending on the formulation, fillers can increase stiffness, improve impact resistance, reduce shrinkage during cooling, and enhance dimensional consistency. Some fillers also improve thermal properties or help maintain tighter manufacturing tolerances. 

The amount and type of filler must be carefully balanced, as excessive filler content can reduce flexibility or alter processing characteristics. Working with experienced material specialists ensures the proper formulation for each application.
